EAST LANSING, MICH. – Despite senior Chloe Lee recording a singles win, Rutgers tennis fell to Michigan State on the road Saturday afternoon. The Spartans claimed the doubles point and five singles to top the Scarlet Knights.
Lee highlighted the outing for RU with a singles win over MSU's Aslina Chua at the No. 2 spot. The Albuquerque, New Mexico, native earned a 6-3 win in the first set before securing the victory with a 6-6 (7-5) win in the next.
"It definitely felt good to pull this one out," said Lee. "I have been so close in a couple of matches so I'm excited I was able to settle in and win the key points this time around."
Rutgers continues to tack on singles victories against top conference foes. Last weekend, freshman Isabelle DaSilva led the Scarlet Knights with her first two Big Ten victories against No. 38 Nebraska and Iowa. Classmate Maya Jacobs picked up her second conference win against the Cornhuskers, while sophomore Jaci Cochrane added a victory of her own against the Hawkeyes.
"In the final stretch of the season everyone is staying really positive which I think is so important," said Lee. "Every day is a new day, so showing up to really play is going to be key for us and I think individually we totally can string together some wins to get a Big Ten win."
