Scarlet Knights Meet Mountaineers on the Road Friday.; Welcome Phoenix at Yurcak Field on Sunday Night
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's soccer team looks to get back on track closing out its season opening road swing meeting Mount Saint Mary's on Friday night before returning home to host Elon in the 2018 home opener on Sunday night. Both games kickoff at 7 p.m.

Friday's contest at Mount Saint Mary's will be streamed on NEC Front Row. Sunday's home opener with Elon, along with all nine home games this season, will be streamed live on BTN Plus. Lou Brongo and Glenn Crooks will be on the call on Sunday.

LOOKING BACK AT THE LAST WEEK
The Scarlet Knights dropped their first two contests of the 2018 season with a 3-0 loss to Patriot League favorite Loyola (Md.) last Friday and dropping a 3-2 matchup with UMBC on Monday night.
On Friday, the Scarlet Knights played the Greyhounds to a 0-0 halftime stalemate before Loyola notched the first of three second-half goals in the 67th minute.
On Monday, Rutgers took a 1-0 lead into the half with redshirt junior midfielder Brian Hawkins capturing the first goal of the 2018 campaign.
The second half endured two ties. The Retrievers knotted the score at 1-1 early in the second half off a free kick, but the Scarlet Knights immediately punched back with junior forward Jordan Hall spliting the Retriever defense on a thru ball by freshman midfielder Vincenzo Pugliese in the 57th minute.
UMBC was able to capitalize off a deflection off a corner kick to tie the game up at 2-2.
RU had a chance to retake the lead only minutes later on a PK, but missed the opportunity hitting the crossbar.
The Retrievers later put away the game-winner in the 72nd minute of play.
ABOUT MOUNT SAINT MARY'S
2018 marks the return of men's soccer for the Mountaineers as the program returned to the pitch after being discontinued in 2012. Mount Saint Mary's announced the reinstatement of the program in 2016 and begun play last weekend.
In the opening weekend, the Mount fell 2-0 to Bucknell at home and dropped a 3-1 matchup at Loyola (Md.) on Monday night.
Freshman midfielder Elias Ordonez scored the Mountaineers lone tally against the 2017 Patriot League regular season champions.
In goal thru two games, Bobby Edwards has posted eight saves holding down a 2.50 goals against average and .615 save percentage.
ABOUT ELON
Elon kicked off the 2018 season last week going 1-1 at the John Rennie/Nike Classic hosted by Duke. The Phoenix dropped the season opener against Vermont, 2-0, but rebounded for a 3-0 shutout of #20 FIU.
The Phoenix will travel to No. 7 Virginia on Thursday night before making their way to New Jersey for the second-ever meeting between the two teams.
The Phoenix finished 7-5-6 overall a year ago and posted a 3-2-3 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Through the first two games of 2018, freshman midfielder Valdi Jonsson and junior forward Jimmy Contino have both found the back of the opposition net thus far.
Goalkeeper Matthew Jegier made three stops against the nationally ranked Panthers last Sunday marking his 27th career shutout.
WELCOME NEW KNIGHTS
Eight Scarlet Knights made their Rutgers debut against Loyola (Md.) last Friday night. Thomas DeVizio, Jordan Hall, Brandon Golden and Vincenzo Pugliese were members of the starting XI, while Andrew Murray, Nick Cruz, Brendan Wall and Dominik Demcak came off the bench.
TUNE UP FOR 2018
The Scarlet Knights had one preseason tune-up before heading into the Aug. 24 season opener with Rutgers picking up a 3-2 win over Army West Point.
Against the Black Knights, newcomer Jordan Hall from Mississippi Gulf Coast College captured a pair of tallies while returning sophomore Zeno Mazzucato put away a PK late in the game.
COMING TO YURCAK IN 2018
The Scarlet Knight home slate will begin on Sept. 2 with a matchup against Elon. The nine-game schedule coming to Yurcak Field this fall also includes contests with Big Ten regular season champion Michigan and national runner-up Indiana.
