
Baseball Swept at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Rutgers baseball fell in Sunday's series finale to Iowa by a score of 5-1 at Duane Banks Field.
The Scarlet Knights (23-16, 3-9) were shut down by a strong pitching performance from the Hawkeyes (22-15, 9-6), who finished off the series sweep.
Iowa got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third. After the Hawkeyes loaded the bases, a fielder's choice and two-run triple made it 3-0. Iowa added two more in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, two-run double.
RU was able to get a run in the eighth when Pete Durocher scored on a ball off the bat of Jackson Natili that was ultimately ruled an error.
Ben Gorski gave Rutgers another strong outing in relief, pitching two perfect innings with three strikeouts. Joey DeChiaro also tossed a 1-2-3 eighth with a strikeout.
Rutgers is back in action on Tuesday night against St. John's, with first pitch set for 6 p.m. at Bainton Field.
