Men’s Lacrosse: Five Alumns to Participate in World Lacrosse Super Sixes

Kirst (USA), Jacoby (Ireland), Stahanczyk (Poland), Baker and Howard (Australia) to Particiapte

OSHAWA, Onatrio – Five Rutgers men's lacrosse alumns will participate in an international lacrosse tournament this weekend. The World Lacrosse Super Sixes will take place this Friday through Sunday with an Olympic Sixes format, and featuring 10 nations. Connor Kirst will play for Team USA, Ronan Jacoby will play for Team Ireland, Jack Stahancyzk will play for Team Poland, and Mitch Baker and Donnie Howard will play for Team Australia.

Kirst has been a veteran of multiple international events for the Red, White and Blue. In his lone season as a Scarlet Knight, Kirst was a Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten selection, scoring 47 goals for an NCAA Tournament team.

Jacoby spent the 2022 season at Rutgers. He was named an All-American, Second Team All-Big Ten and Scholar All-American after scoring 37 goals with 11 assists to propel RU to the Final Four.

Stahanczyk spent five years 'On the Banks', from 2019 to 2023, where he was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Between long-stick midfield and defense, he played in 44 games with 22 starts, causing 18 turnovers and collecting 69 ground balls.

Baker is a veteran player for Team Australia out of the Malvern Lacrosse Club, with multiple experiences with their international team both before and after his time at RU. The attackman from Melbourne played his lone season at RU in 2023.

Howard spent the 2024 season as a Scarlet Knight. The short-stick defensive midfielder, who had previous experience with Team Australia before coming to RU, saw action in all 14 games that season with eight ground balls and five caused turnovers 

International lacrosse has continued to schedule multiple sixes format events in preparation for the Olympics in LA in 2028, where lacrosse will be contested with sixes as the format. Most recently, the Atlas Cup was held, with two RU alumns competing in a smaller event. Ross Scott competed for Team Canada, who won the event. Scott scored five goals and had four assists as the Canadiens took the title. Additionally, goalkeeper Colin Kirst played for Team USA, with the team claiming second place.
