PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's tennis wrapped up competition at Charlotte's 49er Invite Saturday, after the tournament start was moved up to Thursday due to weather. The weekend was highlighted by a pair of singles victories from Zuzanna Frankowska and Mischka Sinclaire Goenadi in addition to several strong performances throughout the three-day event.

"This was a really elite tournament where we got great experience," head coach Hilay Ritchie said. "We competed well in singles but there are areas that need polishing with our movement at net. Freshman Mischka Sinclaire Goenadi shined in singles. Savannah Cohen and Stella Schmitz had strong singles wins over Maryland players. Zuzanna Frankowska played a terrific match to beat Clemson in singles as well. These matches were terrific preparation for the ITA Regionals in two weeks."

The Scarlet Knights opened competition with a 2-1 record in doubles play on day one. Frankowska and Goenadi earned a 7-6 (4) victory over Charlotte, while Zeynep Ilker and Naomi Karki added a 6-2 win over the hosts as well. Rutgers' Savannah Cohen also came up with a win, playing with Charlotte's Drukerova, the pair defeated teammates Cindy Zhou and Miranda Case, 6-2.

Frankowska and Goenadi continued their strong weekend in singles action on the second day. Frankowska battled back for a three-set victory over Clemson's Suchankova, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, while Goenadi earned a straight-set win over Missouri's Anghel, 6-4, 6-4, and a three-set win over Maryland's Baniak (2-6, 7-6(3), 10-4).

Karina Jumazhanova and Savannah Cohen rounded out the day, also picking up victories on the singles court. Jumazhanova secured a three-set victory, defeating Missouri's Higuita, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. Cohen added a three-set win of her own against Maryland's Challa, 4-6, 6-1, 10-4.

Rutgers' doubles pairing of Frankowska and Goenadi continued to find success on day two, defeating Maryland's Eissa and Baniak, 6-3.

The Scarlet Knights closed the weekend against Charlotte, with Frankowska and Goenadi narrowly falling to Widdowson and Ivanov, 6-4. The duo had previously defeated Charlotte's Nakano and Mohamed in the opening round.

Frankowska and Goenadi each battled in singles play on the final day, while Cohen pushed Mohamed to a deciding match tiebreak before falling, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 10-8.
