Women’s Lacrosse Hosts No. 8 Johns Hopkins Sunday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-3) opens Big Ten Conference play with No. 8 Johns Hopkins (7-1) on Sunday at SHI Stadium. First draw is set for 1 p.m. and will stream on Big Ten Plus.
Sunday is the program's 'My Cause' game, with Scarlet Knights representing their respective causes and organizations. Giveaways include Block R magnets, shakers, Nike bracelets and this season's official team poster.
RU is in the midst of playing six games against ranked opponents in its final 10 games of the regular season. The No. 10 hardest schedule in the country according to the NCAA features No. 3 Maryland, No. 4 Northwestern, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Johns Hopkins, No. 12 Stony Brook and No. 18 Penn State.

• Despite leading at halftime and being tied in the fourth quarter, Rutgers lost at No. 12 Stony Brook on Wednesday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. With the game tied 8-8 in the fourth quarter, the Seawolves used a 3-0 scoring run and stout defense to earn the out-of-conference victory.
• Earning her first career start in cage, sophomore Stella Quilty saved a game and career-high 13 shots, including seven stops in the opening 30 minutes. Senior Katie Buck helped Rutgers to a 13-9 advantage in center circle with a game-high eight draw controls. Buck and classmate Kimberly Greenblatt led the team with three caused turnovers apiece.
• Sophomore Hilary Elsner tallied a game-high four points on three goals and an assist, while classmate Caroline Ling added three points on two scores and a helper. Freshman native Kate Theofield contributed two goals off the bench, while senior Lily Dixon and junior Payton Tini tallied two points each.

• The Blue Jays enter the weekend on a three-game winning streak, which includes a 13-11 win over Stony Brook on Sunday in their last time out.
• Johns Hopkins owns ranked wins against then-No. 13 Stony Brook, No. 14 Duke, No. 14 Penn and No. 19 Loyola (Md.) this season, with their only loss coming at Georgetown.
• Johns Hopkins is second in the country in caused turnovers per game (14.75), second in ground balls per game (21.50), fifth in assists per game (9.50) and 11th in points per game (23.75).
• Reagan O'Brien leads the NCAA with 4.29 caused turnovers per game, while Angello is third in the country with 42 points on the season. Her 29 goals are sixth in the nation, while Hoss is top 10 in the country with 21 helpers.
• Johns Hopkins leads the all-time series, 9-3. Our last win over the Blue Jays occurred in 2023, courtesy of a 15-14 victory over JHU in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament.
