Apr 12 | Baseball
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball dropped Sunday's series finale to No. 1 UCLA by a score of 9-2 at Bainton Field.
The Scarlet Knights (17-18, 5-10) were once again unable to generate enough offense to mount a comeback against the Bruins (33-2, 18-0), who jumped out to a 7-0 lead and went on to win their 27th straight game.
On the mound, Dallin Harrison started and pitched 3.1 innings, striking out four and giving up three earned runs on five hits. Jason Masick threw 1.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout and Jacob Pedersen contributed an inning of relief with no earned runs.
UCLA scored in the second on an RBI triple and doubled its lead in the fourth on an RBI double. A pair of errors by RU in the fourth allowed a total of three runs to score for the Bruins, pushing the advantage to 5-0.
A solo homer in the fifth followed by an RBI single made it 7-0 for the visitors.
Yomar Carreras laced a ground-rule double in the seventh to get Rutgers on the board. Julius Rosado followed with a pinch-hit sac fly to make it 7-2, though RU was unable to add any more.
The Bruins padded on two more to finish off the 9-2 victory and complete the series sweep, their sixth sweep in as many Big Ten series in 2026.
Rutgers returns to action with a midweek contest against Marist at 6 p.m. Tuesday night at Bainton Field.
