Crowley Selected in First Round (12th overall) by Halifax Thunderbirds
PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā Incoming Scarlet Knight Nick Crowley was selected as the NLL held its 2026 Draft on Thursday night. The Halifax Thunderbirds selected Crowley to play in the pro indoor league in the 1st round with the 12th overall pick.
Crowley comes to RU for his fifth collegiate season from Princeton, where he played in 44 games over the last four seasons. Plying long-stick midfield, he had 32 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and one assist.
Crowley was ranked as the No. 19 Impact Transfer for 2027 by Inside Lacrosse. Crowley was part of an incoming transfer class that the publication pegged as the top transfer portal class in the nation. He aims to complete a Master's Degree at RU in Financial Analysis.
A 6-1, 210 pound fifth year pole, Crowley hails from Peterborough, Ontario. The Canadian has a box lacrosse background with experience playing for his hometown Peterborough Lakers squad in Major Series Lacrosse and was pegged as one of the top players in Junior A lacrosse.
"Crowley is another hard-nosed defender out of Peterborough, Ontario who checks all the boxes of a modern NLL defender," profiled Pat Gregoire of 'On the Clock Lax'. "Combining grit, high-end lacrosse IQ and the ability to push the pace in transition, Crowley brings a well-rounded skill set that projects well to the professional game. While he won't be available for the 2026-27 NLL season, his long-term upside is significant enough that general managers should have no hesitation investing in his future."
Rutgers men's lacrosse had three Scarlet Knights see action in the NLL last season. Adam Charalambides played with the Vancouver Warriors, Connor Kirst with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs andĀ Matthew Paolatto with the Colorado Mammoth. Joe Nardella (Oshawa Firewolves), Dante Kulas (Oshawa Firewolves) and Brian Cameron (Philadelphia Wings) also saw time with NLL clubs.
