Women's Soccer Falls to No. 12 UCLA

PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā Rutgers women's soccer fell to No. 12 UCLA by a score of 1-0 on Friday night at Yurcak Field.
The Scarlet Knights (2-4-3, 1-3-0) held the Bruins (6-3-1, 3-1-0)Ā scoreless for the majority of the contest, but the visitors found the back of the net with just over five minutes remaining to earn the victory.
While the Bruins controlled most of possession, it was RU who created more opportunities over the course of the match. The Scarlet Knights held a 15-5 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 advantage in the second half.
Despite the relentless offensive pressure on the counter attach, Rutgers was able to put just one shot on frame in the second half when Jayme Malanda was inches away from a header going in off a corner kick.Ā
In the 85th minute, UCLA won possession in the RU defensive half and tucked in a finish inside the left post for the game-winner.Ā
Rutgers returns to action on Sunday when it welcomes No. 14 Wisconsin for a Senior Day showdown at 1 p.m. at Yurcak Field.
