CORALVILLE, Iowa – Rutgers volleyball made the quick turnaround from playing #1 Nebraska on Friday to take on Iowa on Saturday night for back-to-back nights of Big Ten action and both squads looking to secure their first conference win of the season.

It was the Hawkeyes, however, prevailing in straight sets, 25-16, 25-23, 25-21.

STANDOUT STATS

The attack was paced by Imani Howell with nine kills, Malia Romes with eight kills and Aspen Maxwell with seven.
Brooke Baldwin racked up a team-leading 18 assists while Lily Bolen registered her fifth double-double of the year and 18th of her career behind 14 assists and 11 digs.
Kenzie Dyrstad joined Baldwin in double-digit digs with 14.
Rutgers out-blocked Iowa, 9-4, as Natalie Robinson logged six stops with Howell, and Skylar George collecting three apiece.
The Scarlet Knights also out-aced the Hawkeyes, 7-6, with Karis Willow serving up four on the night.

KEY MOMENTS

SET 1 (16-25) | The opener was knotted five times early, when at 13-13, Iowa went on an 11-1 run to push ahead. The Hawkeyes had the early hot hitting, swinging at a .325 clip, while RU was hindered by nine errors on the attack. Imani Howell and Malia Romes both swung for three kills each.

SET 2 (23-25) | Rutgers went on a late 10-4 run to even the frame at 23-23, but the rally fell just short for Iowa to go up 2-0. Howell dropped a hammer down the middle to give Rutgers a 7-4 early edge, but Iowa followed with a 12-4 run to take a 17-12 advantage. The Hawkeyes extended their lead to six at 19-13 when the Scarlet Knights made their move. RU saw a pair of kills from Aspen Maxwell and an ace from Lily Bolen with the run capped on a block at the left pin from Skylar George and Natalie Robinson to tie the set up at 23-23. The Hawkeyes, however, closed out the frame with a pair of kills coming from Rosa Vesty and Hannah Whittingstall. Howell and Romes paced the attack yet again as each posted four kills. Romes hit .571 for the frame.

SET 3 (21-25) | Rutgers went out to a 9-5 start and led 20-19, but the hosts used a 6-1 run to close the match. After the Hawkeyes came back to even the final frame at 11-11, the Scarlet Knights bounced back on a Howell kill and back-to-back aces from Karis Willow for a 14-13 edge. From there, the set was tied four times as Iowa's Marichka Hoshylyk evened the score for the final time at 20-20, beginning the late Iowa surge. Aspen Maxwell and Skylar George each contributed three kills each, while Natalie Robinson registered three blocks.
