Heningburg, Rexrode Named B1G Players of Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (April 10, 2016) - The No. 16 Rutgers men's lacrosse team earned two more player of the week accolades on Tuesday afternoon. Jules Heningburg was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Michael Rexrode earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades. The Scarlet Knights have now compiled 15 total Big Ten Weekly Awards this season.
Heningubrg had a career-high five goals in a 13-6 win over Michigan. He scored twice in the fourth quarter in a crucial 5-0 RU run to put the game away. The Maplewood, N.J. native had his sixth game this season with at least five points. Over his past four games, Heningburg has totaled 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points, which coincides with a four-game Scarlet Knights winning streak. On the season, the sophomore attacker has 27 goals, 14 assists and 41 points. Heningburg earns the accolade for the second time this season.
Rexrode led the defensive in an outstanding performance against the Wolverines. The Leesburg, Va. native had a team-high five ground balls and also three caused turnovers. Rexrode and RU held Michigan to just 6 goals, tying their lowest output of the season. They also held Michigan's starting attack to just one goal. On the season, the sophomore defender has 29 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. Rexrode earns the honor for the second time this season.
The victory over the Wolverines raised RU's record to 9-2 on the year and 2-0 in Big Ten play. Next up for the Scarlet Knights is a road game at No. 4 Maryland on Saturday at 4 p.m.
