PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse attackman Kieran Mullins was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday. It was the fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor this season for the Islip, N.Y. native.
Mullins had three goals Saturday, his seventh hat trick of the season. None were bigger than his final tally. With the game even at 11-11 and in overtime, Mullins buried the game-winning goal to give Rutgers a 12-11 win over No. 3 Ohio State. It was the program's highest ranked victory since 2003, and gave RU back-to-back double digit victories for the first time in school history.
On the season, Mullins scored 35 goals and notched 15 assists for 51 points. He led the Scarlet Knights in goals and points.
