Tennis Set to Host Nebraska, Iowa

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis is set for two home matches this weekend, starting with No. 38 Nebraska on Friday for a 12:30 p.m. contest at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. Next up, the Scarlet Knights welcome Iowa on Sunday for another 12:30 p.m. match currently slated at the Rutgers Tennis Complex.
PROMOTIONS
Free pizza provided by Domino's will be available to the first 25 fans in attendance for RU's matches with Nebraska and Iowa.
RU's LAST TIME OUT
Competing in back-to-back ranked matches, Rutgers (5-9, 0-5) suffered two setbacks to then-No. 11 Illinois at home and then-No. 9 Northwestern on the road over the weekend.
Despite the loss against the Fighting Illini, freshman Maya Jacobs recorded her first Big Ten singles victory at the No. 5 spot to highlight the contest for RU. Jacobs and sophomore Jaci Cochrane are tied for the team lead with six singles victories in dual matches.
In doubles action, the duo of senior Mingxiu Du and sophomore Kat Muzik own six doubles wins as a duo in dual play.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
Nebraska (14-5, 3-3) split its matches on the road over the weekend, falling to Purdue on Saturday and defeating Indiana on Sunday.
The Cornhuskers have conference wins over then-No. 19 Ohio State and Penn State, while also owning losses to then-No. 34 Michigan and Michigan State.
SCOUTING IOWA
Iowa (9-10, 1-5) enters the weekend having suffered losses in its last four matches, which included ranked opponents in then-No. 27 Ohio State and then-No. 33 Wichita State.
The duo of Elise van Heuvelen and Anastasia Reimchen rank No. 47 in the ITA doubles rankings, holding a 7-2 record on the season.
The Hawkeyes will travel to Maryland on Saturday before facing Rutgers.
