PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball returned home to take on No. 6 Oregon as the two squads battled for the first time in Big Ten play on Friday at the RU Softball Complex with the nationally-ranked Ducks topping the Scarlet Knights 20-1.
No. 6 Oregon 20, Rutgers 1 (5)
- Oregon got off to a hot start with four runs on four hits in their first at-bat including RBIs singles by Kedre Luschar and Stefini Ma'ake and an RBI double from Dezianna Patmon.
- The Ducks continued to add on with eight runs on six hits in the second, including a two-run double from Paige Sinicki and a grand slam off the bat of Braiesey Rosa.
- The top ten squad from Eugene tacked on four more in the third thanks to a three-run home run from Ma'ake and RBI double by Kaylynn Jones.
- Ma'ake added her fifth RBI of the game with a single up the middle for Oregon's 17th run of the game.
- Rutgers got onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth. Allison Amadio used her speed to reach third as the ball took a bounce in front of the diving Duck right fielder to the corner. Moments later, Amadio scored as Jayla Fuller made it back-to-back extra-base hits with a double to right center.
- The visitors, however, returned to the plate for three more runs on four hits in the fifth. The Ducks used three straight singles with Abby Mulvey pushing across a run. Katie Flannery added a sac fly to left. Ma'ake pushed across a run with a single to center with the Scarlet Knights ending the top half of the inning catching the Ducks trying to get extra base on the play.
