PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Rutgers women's tennis team ended the season with three ITA Regional Rankings. Â
Mai Nguyen earned the No. 8 spot in singles while she also ended the campaign No. 3 in doubles along with partner Naomi Karki. In addition, the team earned an overall ranking of No. 5 in the Northeast Region. Â
The Scarlet Knights recorded seven wins on the 2025 spring, including a 4-3 victory at Oregon to open Big Ten play. The squad also totaled four sweeps.Â
Nguyen had a breakout season, competing in all 21 duals at the No. 1 position, compiling 10 doubles wins and eight singles wins. She earned the 2025 Team MVP Award Winner as well as the Team Scarlet & Black Award. Â
The Atlanta, Georgia native earned her first Big Ten Player of the Week honor on March 5, after leading the Scarlet Knights in a sweep versus Army. Â
Nguyen also recorded ranked Big Ten wins over the No. 66-ranked singles player from Maryland (April 12) and the No. 115 singles player from Iowa in straight sets (April 6). Â
The duo of Nguyen and Karki had a remarkable season on the doubles court, ending with 10 victories and five in Big Ten play. Â
The team won four in a row, defeating UMass, Army, Oregon and the No. 85-ranked duo in Washington. They also came out ono top over Penn State, Nebraska and Maryland. Â
