ATLANTA – Rutgers first baseman Ty Doucette was selected by the Cincinnati Reds with the 294th overall pick in the 10th round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday.

With the selection, Doucette joins Trevor Cohen (Giants, third round) as Rutgers players selected in this year's draft. Doucette also becomes the 11th Scarlet Knight to be drafted in the last four seasons under head coach Steve Owens.

Doucette is the eighth Rutgers player to be drafted by the Reds, joining Brian O'Grady (2014), Jaren Matthews (2010), Todd Frazier (2007), Frank Meade (2007), Scott Trochim (1987), Mark Germann (1984), Robert Young (1969).

In two seasons on the Banks, Doucette was a model of consistency for the Scarlet Knights, hitting .338 with a .970 OPS, 22 home runs, 103 RBIs and 21 doubles across 101 games. He ended the 2025 campaign on a 12-game hitting streak and displayed his power with a home run in each of the final seven weekends of the seasons, including one in the Big Ten Tournament victory over Indiana. Doucette was 5-for-9 in the conference tournament, hitting a home run and driving in three total runs across two games in Omaha. 

As a freshman in 2024, Doucette broke onto the scene with a .321 average, hitting nine home runs with 11 doubled and a .944 OPS despite battling injury most of the season and missing 13 games. 

The selections of Doucette and Cohen give Rutgers multiple MLB Draft selections for the fourth straight season, with 2025 also marking the fourth straight season RU has produced multiple picks in the top 11 rounds of the draft. Previously, there had never been back-to-back MLB Drafts with two Rutgers players selected in the top 11 rounds.
