NEWARK, Del. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (1-1) defeated Delaware (0-2), 12-4, on Friday at Delaware Stadium. The Scarlet Knights never trailed the Blue Hens during the out-of-conference matchup, shutting out Delaware in the first half while forcing the home team into 21 turnovers.

Senior Lily Dixon tied a career high with five assists, sophomore Caroline Ling tallied three points on two goals and an assist, while junior Payton Tini and sophomore Delainey Sutley chipped in two points apiece.
Friday marked the least number of goals allowed in a win since RU defeated Le Moyne, 19-2, on Feb. 22, 2025, as Dixon (3), sophomore Bianca Chiarella (2) and freshman Gabby Mariani (2) all forced multiple turnovers. Graduate student Simone Koryszewski produced seven saves, including the 200th of her career, to earn her first win at Rutgers.
Senior Katie Buck helped the Scarlet Knights to a 14-4 advantage in center circle, finishing with a game-high eight draw controls.
The game was scoreless for the first 10 minutes before Tini netted her first of the season on a free position attempt. Mariani found Theofield 30 seconds later, as RU took a 2-0 lead with 4:42 left in the opening quarter.
Ling netted her first of the game at the close of the first, as Rutgers held a 3-0 advantage after the first quarter. Koryszewski stopped four shots in the first 15 minutes, while Buck added three draw controls.
The Scarlet Knights continued to put the clamps on Delaware in the second quarter, forcing the Blue Hens into six turnovers over the next 15 minutes of play. RU tacked on four more goals before the midpoint, including a finish from senior Kayleigh Coughlin off the pass from Theofield in the final minute for a 7-0 lead.
Koryszewski recorded five saves in the first half. Chiarella and Dixon each caused two turnovers.
Delaware scored back-to-back goals out of the locker room before Rutgers responded. Tini found a cutting Hilary Elsner, who finished over the goalie's left shoulder for her first of the night. Dixon then followed with her third assist, tossing to Sutley from behind cage. Sutley's score made it 9-2 Scarlet Knights with five minutes left in the third quarter.
Sutley finished an open-net opportunity three minutes later, as RU took a 10-2 advantage into the fourth.
Both squads traded goals down the stretch, but Theofield's third goal of the night – this time off a pass from Ling – put the game out of reach with a 12-4 advantage for Rutgers and 3:40 left on the clock.
