Tennis Drops Road Match to No. 9 Northwestern

EVANSTON, ILL. – Facing its second straight ranked opponent, Rutgers tennis dropped a road match to No. 9 Northwestern on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats (13-4, 6-0) claimed the doubles point and six singles matches to top the Scarlet Knights (5-9, 0-5).
Northwestern opened the match with a 1-0 advantage after securing the doubles point, going on to carry that momentum into singles.
At the No. 4 singles spot, sophomore Jaci Cochrane rallied back from a 6-3 loss to NU's Julie Byrne in the first set, earning a 6-3 win of her own in the second. In the deciding set, however, Cochrane was edged 1-0 (10-6).
Freshman Maya Jacobs also put up a fight at the No. 5 position against Alex Chatt, pushing the first set to a 7-6 (7-2) margin despite the loss.
