Baseball Drops Game 2 to Ohio State

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball dropped Friday's game to Ohio State by a score of 11-5 at Bainton Field.
The Scarlet Knights (27-25, 5-18) were unable to overcome a pair of big innings from the Buckeyes (28-23, 12-11), who secured the weekend series with the victory.
While OSU jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, Scotty Young grounded an RBI single up the middle to tie it at 1-1. The Buckeyes scored another in the third, but Ty Doucette responded with a solo home run – his ninth of the season – to even the contest at 2-2.
A two-run double from Pablo Santos gave RU a 4-2 lead after four innings. OSU responded with three in the fifth to re-take the lead at 5-4.
After scoreless sixth and seventh innings, the Buckeyes added four in the top of the eighth to take control with a 9-4 advantage. A two-run homer in the ninth made it 11-4.
Doucette drove in another with a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth, but that was all for the Scarlet Knights in the final frame.
The series finale between Rutgers and Ohio State is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday afternoon, with the Scarlet Knights hosting Senior Day festivities after the conclusion of the game.
