Biography

Why Rutgers? “I chose Rutgers because I’ve always wanted to represent the state of New Jersey.”

2024 (Senior): Drew two hit-by-pitches at St. Joe's, drove in a run and scored another (2/27) ... 3-for-12 at Old Dominion, scoring three runs and driving in one (2/23-25) ... went 4-for-9 at Winthrop, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three stolen bases in season opener and driving in game-winning run in 11th inning on Sunday (2/16-18).

2023 (Junior): MAAC All-Tournament Team ... MAAC All-Academic Team ... started 56 of 57 games for Broncs, helping lead team to MAAC Championship and appearance in NCAA Conway Regional ...  slashed .298/.381/.391 with team-high 70 hits, scored 47 runs with 34 RBIs and added two home runs, two triples, 12 doubles and 19 stolen bases ... went 6-fot-14 in Conway Regional with four runs, two RBIs and two doubles.

2022 (Sophomore): MAAC All-Academic Team ... started all 54 games for the Broncs ... hit .281 with a team-high 62 hits to go along with 41 runs and 24 RBIs ... second on the team with 18 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-5 game against Miami (OH) ... fourth in the MAAC and 68th nationally with four triples ... ranked ninth in the MAAC with 32 walks ... had 13 extra-base hits including four triples and four home runs ... ,ade zero errors the entire season, playing shortstop, second base and centerfield, totaling 192 putouts and assists ... led the NCAA with a 1.000 fielding percentage ... hit an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth as part of a 5-run inning during the Broncs’ come-from behind 11-8 win over Niagara in the MAAC Tournament.

2021 (Freshman): MAAC Player of the Week (5/3) .... played in 25 games, making 21 starts ... hit .300 with 18 hits, 11 runs, and 15 RBIs ... had five multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 game against Quinnipiac ... recorded a pinch-hit two-run walk off single against Canisius in the MAAC Tournament ... member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.

2020 (Freshman): Saw action in nine games, making four appearances in the starting lineup ... hit .313 with five hits, four runs and two RBIs ... went 2-for-5 with an RBI in a win over James Madison ... earned his first career start against Charleston Southern. 

Prior to College: Ranked No. 84 overall prospect in New Jersey and No. 15 shortstop by Perfect Game ... four-year member of both the varsity baseball and soccer teams at Wall ... two-time Carpenter Cup participant ... three-year starter at shortstop and second base ... team won B North Championships in 2017 and 2018 ... First Team All-Division honoree for B North and a First Team All-Group 3 honoree ... Perfect Game Honorable Mention Pre-Season All-American in 2017 and 2018 ... Perfect Game Top Prospect Team Northeast in 2017 ... standout soccer player who led his team to B North championships in 2015 and 2016 ... third Team All-Group 3 honoree.

Personal: Son of John and Kim Volpe ... has one brother, Joey ... father, two uncles and aunt all graduated from Rutgers ... plans to pursue a certificate in labor and employment relations.
