PHILADELPHIA – Rutgers track and field traveled back to the Penn campus for the second-straight week, competing in the Quaker Invitational at the Ott Center on Saturday, Jan. 18. Brian and
Kevin O'Sullivan set school records in the indoor pole vault, putting a spotlight on early season success for the Scarlet Knights.
"Overall, we've had some very strong performances for this early in the season," said
Bobby Farrell, director of track & field and cross country. "A lot of PRs and over 30 performances in the top 10 all-time. That's a strong base to build on as we start to hit the road in the coming weeks."
The O'Sullivan brothers cleared identical heights of 5.45m (17' 10.5") to establish a new Rutgers record. Brian finished first in the event, achieving the height in fewer attempts, while Kevin placed second. Brian previously broke a 22-year-old record the prior week, eclipsing the height set by Ed Keefe (5.29m/17' 4.5") in 2002.
