Track and Field Closes Out Larry Ellis Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Rutgers track and field traveled south for the Larry Ellis Invitational on the Princeton campus, wrapping up competition on Saturday, May 3 at Weaver Stadium.

The Scarlet Knights were originally scheduled to send a portion of the team to the East Coast Relays at North Florida, site of the 2025 NCAA East First Round but flight cancellations resulted in the entire squad competing in Princeton.

Despite not having a chance for a tune up meet at the site of regionals, Rutgers made the best of the opportunity. The Scarlet Knights turned in several top performances, including eight event wins on the weekend.

On the men's side, a pair of wins on the track and two in field events served as highlights for the Scarlet Knights. Chris Serrao won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.68, while Micah Lawson was victorious in the 1,500-meter, clocking a time of 3:52.23. Daniel Duncan placed third in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 10.51.

Bryce Tucker, Lathan Brown, Joshua Babe and Jah'mere Beasley combined to run 3:09.27 in the 4x400-meter relay to place second in the event.

Malachi Yehudah and Donovan Anderson represented wins in the high jump and triple jump, respectively. Yehudah cleared a height of 2.10m (6' 10.75") to finish first, while Anderson recorded a winning distance of 15.48m (50' 9.5").

The women's team posted winning times and marks in four events. Rutgers claimed another win in a relay with the 4x100-meter group of Abby Love, Azariah Grantham, Naylah Jones and Jada Ellis combining to run 45.03. Grantham and Jones also ran in the 100-meter dash, finishing second and third, respectively. Grantham clocked a time of 11.81, followed by Jones in 11.82.

Casey Walters won the 10,000-meter with a time 37:13.46 and Success Duruzor placed second in the 400-meter, running a time of 54.12 to round out the top finishes on the track.

Jenovia Logan won the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.78m (5' 10"). In the pole vault, the Scarlet Knights earned three finishes in the top-three with Chloe Timberg winning the event with a height of 4.40m (14' 5.25"), followed by Emma Keating and Suzy Lacombe in a tie for third with identical heights of 4.07m (13' 4.25").

Rutgers will take a two week break from competition before traveling to Eugene, Oregon and Hayward Field for the Big Ten Championships on Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18.
