Oct 12 | Field Hockey
PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā Rutgers field hockey back Eden Doucelin was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. The conference office recognized her efforts as the Scarlet Knights earned their first Big Ten win of the season on Friday against Ohio State.
Doucelin played every minute at back as RU earned a 3-2 win over OSU in a penalty shootout. With her on defense, the Scarlet Knights allowed just one goal in the field of play, with the Buckeyes also scoring on a penalty stroke.
Doucelin has played and started in nine games this season at back, playing the majority of minutes in her contests. The first year Scarlet Knight hails from Brussels, Belgium, where she played for the Belgium U-18 squad prior to coming to RU.
Doucelin is the third Scarlet Knight to win a Big Ten Weekly award this season. She is the second Freshman of the Week this season, along with fellow back Lauren Iaccio. Olivia Fraticelli also was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
Rutgers returns to action with two home games this weekend. RU hosts Michigan on Friday (3 pm) and then Michigan State on Sunday (12 pm for Senior Day / Letterwinners Day).
