2022 MLB Draft: Martin hits fork in road, announces he’ll play at Rutgers (7/18/22)
Why Rutgers? "I chose Rutgers to be a part of a growing program, and to put New Jersey baseball on top."
Head Coach Steve Owens: "Max is one of the top players in the entire Northeast region. He has worked very hard to improve every aspect of his game and has become extremely complete with his skill set. He will be an immediate impact player upon his arrival 'On the Banks.'"
2023 (Freshman)
2-for-4 with a double and run scored in series at Purdue (4/29-30) ... Doubled and scored in a run in series against Michigan (4/15-16) ... 3-for-7 with a home run, four runs scored, three RBIs, a double, triple and three walks in two games at Maryland (4/8-9) ... Went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs in win over NJIT (3/29) ... Was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in series finale at UConn (3/26) ... 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs in win over Lafayette (3/22) ... Walked in a run in win over Campbell (2/19).
Prior to Rutgers: Participated in 2022 MLB Draft Combine in San Diego ... Four-year varsity player at Moorestown … earned all-state honors … played travel ball for East Coast Pro … a Baseball Factory and Minority Baseball All-American … took part in the Kelly Rodman Classic and Cape Cod League High School rivalry … also a member of the badminton, photography and outdoor service clubs.
Personal: Son of Melanie and Carlton Martin … has two brothers, Samson and Ahmad … great uncle played for the San Francisco Giants … has an interest in videography and photography.
